HortEast 2010 - November 22-24, 2010

Cunard Centre: Halifax, NS

The 2009 HortEast Trade Show was an extremely successful event – with the move from a bi-annual to an annual show, the committee was very pleased with the turn out and participation at HortEast this year.  This was the second year that HortEast has run with a new committee structure, with representation from Landscape New Brunswick, Landscape Nova Scotia, and Landscape Newfoundland and Labrador staff and volunteers, and staff support from the CNLA office.

The 2009 show was held at the Moncton Coliseum Complex, and delegates and exhibitors all commented on the convenient and central location of the venue. The show featured an excellent line-up of speakers, coming from across Canada, the US, and even Switzerland.  Delegates commented that this was the best speaker program in the history of HortEast. The trade show was held on Tuesday and Wednesday and featured over 100 booths.

A big thanks to all of our event sponsors, including our Platinum Event Sponsor – Shaw Brick.  Special thanks to Kevin Nauss with Price Landscaping Services in Lutes Mountain, NB for chairing the 2009 organizing committee, as well as to all of our other committee volunteers who worked tirelessly to pull off an incredible event.

LNB Summer Tour - August 21, 2009

Landscape New Brunswick hosted a one day industry tour of the Moncton area. The tour included a visit of the gardens at Dieppe City Hall, the Gallant Garden (private property), a tour and lunch at All Stone Landscaping and Masonry, a tour of the Irving Arboretum, Gardens Bouctouche, and the Dune Center, and an optional dinner at Corn Hill Nursery.

3rd Horticultural Basic Training - April 16, 2009 (Fairway Inn, Sussex)

This training day was developed to help garden centre and landscape contractors/maintenance owners and managers to train new employees on the basics of horticulture. Explanation of botanical terms, fertilizer ratios and their meaning, tree and pruning techniques, soil composition, intro to IPM, and customer service are some of the topics covered in this extensive full say event. Let us train your new employees and sharpen your seasoned veterans.

Annual IPM Symposium - February 26, 2009 (Hotel Moncton)

The 2009 3rd Annual IPM Symposium was a success! High profile presenters from far afield as well as local experts converged in Moncton to provide information on the everchanging world of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). The event was geared toward anyone who makes their living in, or simply has an interest in, turf health care. Topics included Turf and Soil Education, Product Updates, Equipment Calibration.
